Vitabiotics Pregnacare Original contains 400μg of folic acid. Folic acid plays a role in the process of cell division and contributes to the development of maternal tissue during pregnancy. With the daily supplement of 400μg of folic acid one month before and up to three months after conception, its levels increase in the pregnant woman. Low levels of folic acid are a risk factor for damage to the neural tube of the developing fetus.
It also contains the right amount of iron, avoiding large doses that can cause problems in pregnancy.
The iron, vitamin B12 and B6 contained in the composition of Vitabiotics Pregnacare Original contribute to the normal formation of red blood cells.
Vitamin C and zinc contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system. B-carotene (provitamin A) instead of vitamin A, as this should be avoided during pregnancy.

The product contains iron which if given in large quantities can be harmful to young children. It contains Vitamin K and therefore should not be taken concomitantly with blood thinners (anticoagulants) without the advice of a doctor.
