Echinacea purpurea, also known as purple conflower, is one of those herbs for which there are many references in the scientific literature about both its active ingredients and its mechanism of action.
Echinacea is rich in important phytochemicals active ingredients. The most important of these are the phenolic ring organic compounds (organic phenol compounds) which include echinacoside (a caffeic acid derivative), chicoric acid (particularly high in Echinacea purpurea compared to other species), chlorogenic acids and cynarin.
It should be noted that chemical analysis of E. purpurea has shown the presence of other active ingredients, but only organic phenol compounds are related to herbal activity and should be used to titrate the final product.
